About Crestfield Public Accounting

At Crestfield Public Accounting, we believe strong organizations are built on trust, accountability, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to them. We help governments, nonprofit organizations, and mission-focused entities strengthen financial oversight, improve internal controls, and make informed decisions through independent assurance and practical guidance.

Our practice is focused on providing objective assurance services that support governing boards, executive leadership, and finance professionals in fulfilling their responsibilities with confidence. Whether through agreed-upon procedures, compliance engagements, internal control evaluations, financial risk assessments, or specialized consulting, we are committed to delivering work that is independent, evidence-based, and focused on long-term organizational success.

We believe assurance should do more than satisfy compliance requirements. It should strengthen governance, reduce risk, improve transparency, and reinforce public trust. Every engagement is approached with professional skepticism, technical excellence, and practical recommendations that clients can implement.

As our firm grows, we are investing in technology-enabled assurance, data analytics, and professional education to help organizations navigate an increasingly complex financial environment. Our goal is to become a trusted resource for organizations committed to accountability, sound financial stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Meet the Founder

Jason Crook, CPA, CFE

I founded Crestfield Public Accounting because I believe governments, nonprofit organizations, and other mission-focused entities deserve independent advisors who are committed to accountability, stewardship, and practical solutions.

My accounting career began after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and returning to Indiana to complete my degree at Indiana University Northwest. While attending school, I gained my first professional tax experience with H&R Block before entering federal service as an IRS small business auditor. That experience shaped my philosophy of helping organizations strengthen their financial practices before problems arise.

Throughout my career I have served as a defense contract auditor and later as a senior supervisor with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, leading teams responsible for financial reporting supporting the Defense Health Agency—one of the largest healthcare organizations in the world. Those experiences developed deep expertise in governmental accounting, internal controls, audit methodology, and financial reporting.

Alongside my public service, my wife and I owned and operated a restaurant in Fishers, Indiana. That experience gave me firsthand insight into the challenges of running a small business and reinforced my appreciation for practical, actionable advice.

Today I combine military discipline, federal audit experience, executive accounting leadership, and entrepreneurial perspective to serve clients through Crestfield Public Accounting. My long-term vision is to build a firm recognized for independent assurance, financial oversight, data analytics, and professional education that helps organizations strengthen governance, improve accountability, and better serve their communities.
